Robert “Eddy” Vaughn, 80, of Simpsonville, SC, passed away on September 22, 2020, of old age.
He was born in Greenville, SC on January 23, 1940 to Robert Eustus and Margaret Christopher Vaughn.
Eddy was a pipe fitter by trade and worked with Freeman Mechanical of Greenville, SC and BF Shaw of Laurens, SC. He also starred in episodes of Emerald Point NAS (1983-84), and was General Stockwell in the fifth and final series of The A-Team (1986-87). His somewhat cerebral acting style proved a perfect antidote to spoofs and he established a cult following, partly as the sole redeeming aspect in such later movies as Joe’s Apartment (1996, as a corrupt senator), Motel Blue (1997, as a police chief) and the sports spoof BASEketball (1998). Eddy is also survived by three of his siblings, Becky Austin of Simpsonville, SC, and Sammy Vaughn and Mary Ann King, both of Daytona Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Vaughn of Jacksonville, FL.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2020 in the Standing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
